Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today announced seven projects under the Economic Transformation Programme ETP with investments totalling up to 5.607 billion ringgit.
The projects which cover oil and gas, healthcare, palm oil, rubber and electrical and electronics sectors, are expected to boost the country's Gross National Income by 2.361 billion ringgit and create 18,522 new jobs.
The most substantial project among the seven is the 4 billion ringgit Pengerang LNG Terminal project in Johor.
The terminal would be the first independent LNG Trading Terminal in Asia, allowing multiple LNG users to store and trade the product.
Indirectly, it would spur the growth of the industry and help establish Malaysia as Asia's LNG Trading hub.
Meanwhile Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala who also heads the ETP's roll out told reporters that more investors have expressed interest to invest in Malaysia.
He hinted that more information would be announced by the end of the year.
