Typhoon Kai-Tak has landed in northern Vietnam, killing at least 27 people.

The storm brought strong winds and heavy rains, causing landslides which hit several densely populated communities including parts of Hanoi.

5 people were swept away by floodwaters, while one woman died as she slept when a landslide buried her house.

In the capital, a taxi driver was killed by a toppled tree while two people were electrocuted by a falling electrical cable.

Nearly 12 thousand houses were damaged while more than 56 thousand acres of cropland were flooded.

Kai-Tak is the fifth tropical storm and typhoon to hit Vietnam since the beginning of the year.
