• WORLD IN BRIEF: TORRENTIAL RAINSTORMS BATTER CENTRAL AND EASTERN CHINA

    In China, torrential rainstorms have begun hitting the country's central and eastern regions with some lasting 8 hours and reaching the maximum rainfall of 213.5 millimetre.

    A total of 102,000 residents in 15 towns were displaced and over 1,800 residents were relocated, as damages are estimated to surpass US$20 million.

    Authorities have warned that the storms will hit China's southern region over the next three days.
