Police arrested 23 Vietnamese women who were employed as guest relation officers GROs during a raid at a karaoke centre in Cheras, early this morning.
The women were busy entertaining some 40 customers in the premises when police raided the premises at 1 am.
Police said the women, aged between 19 and 35, had used social visit passes to enter the country.
DSP Noor Oamr Sappi who led the raid, said the women could have be lured into this country with the hope of finding jobs.
But they were forced to be involved in seedy activities including prostitution.
The karaoke operators could be charged under the Immigration Act for employing foreigners.
