An Australian woman was charged at the Kuala Lumpur high court today for drug trafficking and may face possible death sentence if found guilty.

The case will be heard on October 1st.

Emma Louise L'aiguille, a nurse from Melbourne, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in more than one kilogramme of methamphetamine in a car, in which she was in.

34 year old L'Aiguille was in the vehicle with her Nigerian boyfriend and another man, when police arrested them on July 17th.

However, both the men managed to escape, just prior to the arrests.

Police are currently searching for the boyfriend.

Emma is the second Australian to face a possible death sentence this year, after Dominic Jude Christopher Bird from Perth was charged in March, with drug trafficking.
