Kuala Lumpur's landscape changed overnight when thousands of foreign workers literally took to the streets.

The void left by city folks due to the Hari Raya balik kampung exodus, was filled up by Bangladeshis, Indonesians, Nepalese and Myanmar nationals.

They gathered at various spots in the city such as KLCC and Kota Raya, enjoying the long festive break with colleagues and compatriots.

For 37-year-old Bangladeshi national, Muhamad Ubaidul Mullah, this year is his sixth year celebrating hari raya aidilfitri in Malaysia.

Muhamad who is working at a plastic factory in Shah Alam said, the long holidays gave him the opportunity to spend time with his countrymen.

There are about 1.4 million foreign workers in the country at present.
