The government has decided to extend the National Higher Education Fund, PTPTN loan to scholarships for all first class honour students who graduated before 2010.

Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the new initiative will benefit 4,349 loan recipients from 2005 till 2009.

He added that qualified borrowers who have already repaid their loans will be refunded.

For those who graduated after 2010 with first class honours, PTPTN was reported to have waived 70 million ringgit in loans.
