The North-South Expressway and highways throughout the country remained clogged as traffic volume increased in the evening due to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri 'Balik Kampung' exodus.

Although the traffic situation was under control on some parts of the NSE it was slow from the Jalan Duta toll plaza heading north with a similar situation for southbound routes from the Sungai Besi toll plaza.

In Tanjung Malim traffic flow slowed to a crawl heading north as well as at the Putra Mahkota-Seremban stretch.

A spokesman from the PLUS Expressway Traffic Control Centre said traffic from Senai, Johor heading to K-L and from Seremban heading to K-L was at a crawl since 3.40pm due to rain.

Traffic congestion was also reported along the North-bound sectors of Slim River to Sungkai and Ipoh to the Menora Tunnel.

Contra flow was also opened at a stretch between Sungkai to Bidor to ease traffic.
