Three people have been arrested for selling fake degree certificates online.

Among those detained was a 24 year old woman said to be the mastermind behind the "Universiti Sains Malaysia degree for sale" scam.

The three, said to be USM students in their 20's, were churning out thousands of ringgit from their sales.

They were arrested in Kampar, Perak yesterday.
 
Police also confisticated computers allegedly used by the trio and have identified the websites with servers reportedly based in the United States.

USM had lodged a police report on the matter after an internal probe detected the scam a few weeks ago.

Checks revealed that a full degree package cost 5,888 ringgit, with the document delivered within a week.

The applicant would have to deposit 400 ringgit into a bank account online and email a photocopy of their MyKad for processing.
