Some 60 Chinese nationals held a peaceful protest outside the Japan embassy in Kuala Lumpur, over the disputed Senkaku islands.

The protest saw Chinese nationals comprising students and workers, showing their support for the Chinese government to defend its claim of ownership over the islands.

The protestors gathered outside the embassy around 11 am, shouting nationalistic slogans while police kept a close eye to avoid any untowards incident.

The group later submitted a memorandum which was received by a representative from the embassy.

China and Japan both lay claim to the islands, called Senkaku by Japan and Diaoyu by China, believed to be located near maritime gas fields.

Recently, the Japanese government purchased three of the disputed islands from their private owner, which had prompted large-scale Anti-Japanese protests in China.
