130 African nationals were arrested by the police in a special operation early Tuesday to curb an Internet scam.

The operation, code-named Ops Tiong, was carried out at three locations in Klang Valley around midnight.

Those arrested include a local woman, who acted as their accomplice, to help dupe victims.

Also seized during the operation were eight bank account books.

Similar raids were conducted in Serdang and Puchong around 3 am.

Most of the African nationals entered the country on student visas.

Staff from the police and immigration departments as well as from the Higher Education and Tourism ministries were also involved in the operation.

All those detained were brought to Selangor police contingent for further questioning.
