Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry's secretary-general will seek a meeting with the Selangor state government in an effort to resolve the stalled Langat 2 water treatment project.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui said he has instructed Datuk Loo Took Gee to meet with the Selangor state secretary on the issue as soon as possible.

He urged the Selangor state government to reach a consensus on the implementation of the project which is crucial in ensuring that Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya will not experience water shortage.

He added that the Selangor Government, should give priority to Langat 2 before discussing water tariffs.

He said the federal government had the funds to build the plant but could not obtain the development order from the state government.

A cabinet committee on the Selangor water issue has been established to look into matters related to the water supply service industry in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya and is chaired by Deputy Prime Minster Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
