The Shah Alam High Court sentenced a Nigerian cleaner to 15 years jail today for possessing 2.9 kilograms of syabu last year.
39 year old Queen Amaechi Iwuala, admitted to having the drugs in her possession at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport arrival hall at 3.50pm on Oct 22, 2010.
She escaped the death sentence as she was initially charged with drug trafficking that provided the mandatory death by hanging.
In pleading for lighter sentence, the accused, a widow, said she got involved in drugs due to proverty.
And hopes to be able to return home to her 13 year old daughter.
High Court Judge Justice Akhtar Tahir ordered the jail sentence to run from date of arrest.
