Mr Zhang, now a wealthy businessman with business interests in Shanghai, decides to hire Zu, an image consultant from HK, to give his daughter a complete makeover in line with her new status. After some time, however, Zu decides to quit his new job to return to HK as he is in fact, not a qualified image consultant. Ning flies to HK to profess her love for Zu, but Zu does not reciprocate, so Ning returns to Shanghai. A few years later, Zu and Ning meet again in Shanghai, and Zu realises that Ning has been waiting for him all along.

Loner Chiu (Nicholas Tse) and ghost Sam (Sam Lee) are partners on 2002, a special police unit that handles paranormal cases. Sam, however, is due for reincarnation and Chiu gets a new partner in the form of Fung (Stephen Fung), a bumbling police officer with the ability to see ghosts, but little ability to fight them.
Despite the odd pairing, the cool and competent Chiu and the clumsy, comical Fung soon develop a good friendship. Unbeknownst to Fung though, the 2002 unit is fated to be a ghost-mortal partnership, which means that either Fung's or Chiu's days are numbered.
