Recently I've been given a chance to do lots of crossovers that I love to do very much. I would say the thrill is so much different from anchoring news in the studio.
The feel, the look, the adrenaline, the anticipation n basically everything about it.
At the month of May was the prestigious award show in Malaysia, Anugerah Industri Muzik 15.. a Malaysian version of the Grammy Awards, hehehehe. I was given the honor to do 5 live crossovers, a day before the event… to showcase the preparations and also the sponsors for that event the next day. When u see an event happening on TV, u might think it’s a simple job but trust me.. it takes a hell of a lot to do. Everybody plays a role in making it a success, n to make it an event to remember. The very small detail counts, from camera, audio, props, the list goes on n on. So can u imagine the work that needed to be done. I salute them all. My first crossover was with Mr. KZR, the director n also the Executive Producer of AIM15. He told everybody what to expect on the next day and also the new categories that was up for grabs. I was nervous, n so was he. This was the first crossover I did for a production as I’m normally assigned to do crossovers for news. As I said the feel is different. For news you need to be more composed compared to doing crossovers for events, I can more casual and chirpy. Hehehehe. Anyway, my second crossover was with Jakel, a fabric company that sponsored the outfit for the hosts that night Afdlin Shauki and also Faizal Tahir. The third one was with Peek a Boo, a salon that sponsored Afdlin Shauki’s haircut and also Best Western Premier Hotel for the lodging of crew. Last but not least I did one crossover for 7 edition YIPPIE!!!! In English!!! I know I sound excited, its because once in a while its fun to do something different, bc I anchor the news in Bahasa.
Rehearsals after rehearsals to make sure everything are well and organized for the big day on Saturday. Some of the crew stayed up till early morning the next day to get everything done. I was nervous myself, not sure why.. Maybe I was nervous because I knew how much work everyone put into making AIM15 a super duper event. SATURDAY came, the night of the big ntv7 event. I had to do a crossover at 1pm in Edisi 7 and Charles Mohan was anchoring in studio. It was an update on the last minute preparation and also nominations of the Song Of The Year. As the day went by, everyone was already setting up for the Blue Carpet Event before the actual Award Ceremony started. It was a different appeal that ntv7 wanted to bring forward rather than the normal red carpet event. It was beautiful, n I was sure with all the glamorous celebs walking on it, it’ll glow n I WAS RIGHT. Around 5 o’clock I had to go in for make up and Daniel Chong sponsored my dress. The dress was pretty. I had silver shoes on and a clutch to match, and also a big glittering earings which I bought in Dubai that match the outfit perfectly. Mawar, one of ntv7 make up artist did my make up n hair. Its actually amazing how much preparation is needed for you just to walk down the blue carpet…. again it needed teamwork. At 7 o’clock I was ready to do my crossover for 7 edition on the blue carpet, In English!!! YIPPIE!!!! This time I had to grab celebs to ask them what they were wearing and updates on what is happening. I couldn’t even hear myself talking while doing the crossover as the cameraman, reporters and also fans were screaming… but again all went good. I invited two of my best friends to come for AIM15 as well, Aifaa n Inga.
As we went in the PWTC hall, the event had already started. Our seats were superb, not too near to the front not to much to the back. The performances were great, the winners were happy and production went well. All I can say is that Job Well Done to KZR n team. It was an AIM to remember…. N I almost forgot Charles came as well all suited up in a tuxedo.:-) Had lots of fun at the after party too... :-) :-)
