Despite being called an eyesore and a roller coaster gone badly awry, The ArcelorMittal Orbit tower was unveiled in London's Olympic Park on Friday.
The 114.5 metre tall tower designed by Anish Kapoor and sponsored by the world's largest steel producer, includes two observation floors giving spectacular views across London, accessed by either a 455-step spiral staircase winding round the structure as well as lifts, with a capacity to take up to 600 visitors an hour.
The orbit will open to ticket holders for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, who can ride the lift to the top for 15 pounds.
Once the Games are over, the tower will be closed for a year, as the park is closed for a post-games transformation, and will be opened the following summer.
